So what's in a name? Well there seems to be a whole lot in, about, and around my name. Throughtout my life my name has compelled many to people to react in certain ways the moment they first read it, heard it, or even heard about it. Many react in a positive manner by declaring "That sounds like a name that should belong to a famous person". I usually inform those people that I am infact a published author, comedian, cartoonist, lyricist and world renowned religious schalar. So the experience is postive on both sides.

However, the most typical reaction is to ask "Is that your real name?" I have to wonder whether those people actually think I am lying about my name, and if so, why would I? Is it that my real name is Engelbert Humperdinck and I am so ashamed of that fact that I made up an entirely fake Maximus Prophet name and I introduce myself to every one I meet by claiming that name? Common sense combined with simple logic should tell them that such a scenario is utterly preposterous.

Another possible explanation for asking such a question could be to inquire about the origin of my name; more specifically was the name given to me by my parents at birth or did I change my name later in life? When I consider that type of inquiry I have to wonder why anyone would be curious about the answer. Is it because they think their name is boring and they wish they could change it to something with a little more pizzazz? Or do they want to be in the Prophet's hereditary line because they believe it must be rich in tradition and panache? Such inquiries can only reflect a dissatisfaction or disgruntlement with their current dispostion in life which they should try to determine the origins of instead of pondering the intangible nuances of my name.

There is yet another reason people ask questions or make assumptions about myself because of my name. They notice a story about "Maximus Prophet" written about or broadcast by their local news media and they automatically assume it is I whom their media is reporting on. They must beleive that I am the only human on this planet to have the Maximus Prophet name. Although I apperciate the prestige that can be attributed to such an assumption, I must be truthful and tell them they are wrong. In fact, there are at least four other Maximus Prophets in America, each one lives in a different state.

I unexpectedly discovered that truth a few years ago when my car was stoped by detectives as I attempted to drive through western Queens Borough, NY. It was then I was informed that there was an active arrest warrant issued for the Maximus Prophet who lives in Baltimore, MD. After sustaining intense questioning and showing multiple forms of ID I was eventually able to convince the detectives that I am not the man they are seeking. While parting I asked one of the detectives how many other Maximus Prophets are there? He informed me there are four and they live in MD, NY, PA, and CA. That information didn't surprise me as I never suspected I was the only Maximus Prophet on earth, but appearently so many do. So please, people of the world, if you hear, read, or see any so-called news about OTHER Maximus Prophets who live OUTSIDE of my state of Massachusetts, don't automatically assume that the news in question pertains to me because it does NOT.

Moving on to what matters most - I will now describe how I feel about my name. I love it! I think it is the greatest name any man can have. The sound if I when it is spoken, the way and looks when printed, and the multitude of affects it has on other minds all attribute to its greatness, and mine. I also like the fact that there are a few other Maximus Prophets out there because I playfully view them as competition and I am motivated to be the best among them in all areas of life. So far I'm way ahead in that game...And that is where I am destined to stay! *wink*
